Cheryl Nenn: Miners Rock, Pictured Rocks ~Enlarge
It is and will remain James Rowens' The Political Environment blog. Jim has the political experience and knowledge to understand the sometimes byzantine Wisconsin policy scene, and nowhere has he been better in investigating and commenting on an issue than he has with the unnecessary proposal by Waukesha to divert Lake Michigan water to fuel urban sprawl.
Jim's analysis is in part that the Waukesha Chamber of Commerce is set on the diversion regardless of what the mayor of Waukesha thinks and almost without regard for fundamental deficiencies in the application. But we all thought the reason Waukesha needed the diversion was to replace a radium-tainted supply. If that were true, the local departments of health should be taking the lead in securing a new water supply -- and looking for alternative sources to Lake Michigan.
As always, something more than meets the eyes is going on with this proposal.
