I was wondering if I was the only person who thought the timing of the press release by the Army Corps of Engineers that disclosed that Asian Carp DNA was found in Lake Michigan to be a bit curious.
The release came just after the Supreme Court denied Michigan's request to close the locks even though the Corps had the test results for four days. This according to a report in the Detroit News today.
Jim Lynch in the News has the details and asks the questions about what, if any, impact this may have on the executive branch's decision to support Illinois and the Supreme Court's decision.

Heres' the story.

I would think that witholding
I would think that witholding evidence puts the defendants on thin ice with the court, and the SG knows it. It probably had quite a lot to do with the speed at which the Carp Summit was agreed to by the White House, and for them to offer to hold it at the WH or in the midwest. (I'd vote for A2 or Madison!) One of the recurring themes in the political disection of the Massachusetts special election has been the electorate's frustration with back-door, business as usual politics continuing when we were all promised unparalleled transparency. And now comes this obvious obfuscation.
My favorite bit in the DetNews article was the disclaimer: "A DNA sample can include fish tissue, scales or feces, but does not necessarily mean the fish are there."
What? The sample floated UPSTREAM??
