President Obama has nominated Lana Pollack to serve on the International Joint Commission, created under the 1909 Boundary Waters Treaty with Canada, and the overseer of the 1972 Canada-U.S. Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.  In addition to an outstanding career as a Michigan legislator and head of the Michigan Environmental Council, Lana is brilliant, principled and persistent in her good work. The appointment is a step forward for the Great Lakes. She'll shake things up, ask the questions others haven't, and bring new ideas to the IJC's work.
