About Me

Town Hall Co-Moderator Gary Wilson is a life-long resident of the Great Lakes region having lived in Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago. His professional career consisted of working over 30 years for United Airlines in a number of management positions.  

In 2002 he began volunteering on Great Lakes issues with the Lake Michigan Federation and counts among his accomplishments his support of environmental leaders in their work to pass the Great Lakes Legacy Act.

In 2006 he expanded his role by becoming a citizen commentator on the Great Lakes Town Hall where he has now written over 200 articles on topics ranging from policy issues to politics. Additionally, he leads a Town Hall initiative to interview Great Lakes political and policy leaders, bringing their views directly to Great Lakes citizens.

In 2008 Gary joined the board of Biodiversity Project and in 2010 became its board chair.

He was raised in the downriver area of Detroit and his first Great Lakes experience was swimming in Lake Erie. Gary now lives in Oak Park, Illinois with his wife Diane Grimard Wilson, who is an executive coach and author.
